Tips To Help You Spring Into Spring Cleaning

Around April and May, people tend to come out of the winter lull as everything thaws and the plants begin to bloom. With that mental haze lifted, many people find themselves motivated. This usually manifests in the form of wanting to improve both one’s home and one’s self. I’m not a philosopher, so I’ll just write about how to improve the home with a thorough spring cleaning. There’s no “right” way to clean, but there are plenty of wrong ways. These tips will hopefully make the task more manageable.

Don’t Get Word Out Too Early – The beginning of a cleaning or renovation project is usually when people have the strongest determination and work ethic. It’s good to stay motivated, but if you push yourself too hard too early on, your risk getting burned out in the later phases of the project. While you may want to get the job over with, remember to take breaks to avoid becoming overwhelmed. Your work might become sloppy if that happens or, worse, you may just give it up altogether.

Be Organized – Not everyone enjoys planning ahead, especially spontaneous people. But some proper planning and reasonable organization can make almost any kind of project go smoother. Before you start getting your hands dirty, you may want to make a list of the most important things you want to during spring cleaning. If there’s a particular item or area you want to clean or repair, literally make a note of it, and prioritize each item on the list.

Stock Up Before You Start – In accord with the planning phase, you can go out and get what you need before you actually begin the work. Chances are, you’re not going to find the idea of having to drive to the store in your dirty work clothes because you ran out of cleaner or what have you all that appealing. It’s far better to take inventory of what you have, and estimate what you need before the broom ever touches the ground.

Make Sure You Get Everything – Spring cleaning is not the time to cut corners. It’s the time to make sure that everything that doesn’t usually get covered by your normal routine sees proper maintenance. To be sure that everything gets done, one good tactic is start from one corner and work downward and outward. Start at the ceiling, and work your way down, cleaning ceiling elements like fans, wall decorations and furniture pieces along the way. If you do a clean sweep like this in every room in the house, there’s little chance of missing anything important.

A good cleaning can make a beautiful home look even better. When the inside of your is as beautiful as the land outside, it can really bring the freshness of spring to life. Village Homes builds beautiful homes in many communities, including Candelas, where spring blooms in full force to create beautiful, colorful landscapes.
