The Golden Rule which tells one not to do unto others what one does not want to happen to oneself is a very old saying that has been passed from people to people, generation to generation, but does not seem to have a very lasting effect. It is a very simple concept, doing good, but somehow not everyone can actually do it. The younger generation these days are seriously lacking in good manners, maybe due to a complete disregard for etiquette lessons for kids.

Etiquette is a set of written or unwritten rules that govern how one should act in society. It had been a trend in Puritan 1500s to teach etiquette in children at school. They were taught a lot of things such as how to behave in a group, how to eat properly, how to address people who are in a superior position, and a lot of other things. While some of these rules are extremely outrageous, most of these have really instilled proper manners that allowed these young kids to grow up in fine ladies and gentlemen.

There are guidelines for almost all kind of situation. It does not really take a genius to figure all of these out, some are simply common sense. There are guidelines in using public utilities, guidelines in behaving in social functions.

Proper manners are first learned at home. Back in the Victorian era parents take pains to instill in their little children proper bearing. The usual schedule of a child back in those days include etiquette lessons. It is believed that the things that are taught the earliest last the longest, and they were right. Most kids back then acted all prim and proper, a far cry from the kids today.

Teaching children how to behave properly is easy to say. It is much harder to do, and one never knows where to start, especially as modern children develop independent thinking as early as possible. They will always try to work things their way and heed their parents less.

These kids will eventually grow up to be power hungry adults who are heartless. They will not even think twice about hurting others just to get what they think they deserve. During these modern times, we are aiming to be the person with the big mind but with a small heart. Kindness is very unusual nowadays as people usually turn a deaf ear to the pleas of the less fortunate.

But, since most parents are working their buns off to give their kids a better future, they do not have the time to really sit down and talk with children about these things. It is typical for American households where the people hardly see each other, much less talk. To remedy this, a parent can send his or her child or children to learn etiquette lessons.

Sending your children to learn manners are very beneficial for his well being. Most classes are categorized by age brackets, so your kids will learn to interact with other kids his age. These can be joined by kids as young as seven years old up to the teenagers. During these sessions they will learn to develop the values of respect and courtesy for other beings and their properties. They will also learn how to speak and act their age anytime, anywhere.

After just a few sessions, the little improvements in behavior will be increasingly evident. At the end of the entire program, parents will be amazed to see how their once rude children are now kind and polite. There are lots of etiquette teachers near you who are able and willing to transform your little monsters to adorable cuties.
